We all want to wake up feeling refreshed and energized in the morning, right? We all want to be more productive and get more done during the day.

If you wake up feeling sluggish or sit around in bed surfing social media on your phone for half an hour before you even set a foot on the ground, your morning routine might need a little overhaul.
Early mornings offer a fresh supply of energy, willpower, and optimism. In order to take advantage of being rested and fresh, you have to start your day strong.
If you lack morning motivation, here are some tips to revamp your routine and be productive all day long.
1. Sleep early
Starting your day off with a bang actually starts the night before.
If you habitually stay up past midnight every night, your body is not going to get the rest it requires to start your day the next morning.
If you find yourself dragging in the morning, maybe it is time to hit the sheets a little earlier at night. Even 15 minutes of extra sleep can really impact your productivity for the next day.
Try turning off all of your electronics an hour before you want to hit the hay. Relax with a good book or a bubble bath so that your body can wind down from the day.
2. Get Up Earlier
Time is a precious commodity. Morning hours are typically the only hours of the day that we really have complete control over. After you get to the office, the requests and needs of others start to drift in.
Productive mornings start early! Try to wake up an hour or so before you would have to.
This precious time in the mornings is for you (and only you). I promise that you will get used to it.
Try it out for several weeks, and you’ll never turn back. Some of the most successful people in the world are up before 5am to take advantage of these early morning hours.
3. Resist hitting the snooze button
Sometimes waking up can feel like the worst thing ever. When your bed is comfy and warm, it might be tempting to hit that snooze button.
You may think that just a few more minutes in bed will help you wake up, but it does more harm than good.
Falling back to sleep for an extra 10-15 minutes can really throw off your body’s rhythm.
You’ll be groggy and fuzzy headed which isn’t the best way to start the day. Instead, set the alarm for the time that you want to get out of bed and then…you guessed it…actually get out of the bed!
4. Always make your bed neatly
Making your bed is something that takes less than two minutes to complete, yet it tends to make you more productive and motivated all day long.
I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out. It probably isn’t the actual act of making the bed that causes you to get more work done during the day, but it is a productive habit that can spark other productive habits throughout the day.
Having a freshly made bed also creates a positive energy and state of mind before you leave for the day, and having a tidy room when you get home after a long day will set you up for a great evening as well!
It only takes a couple of minutes, so give it a try!
5. Drink a big glass of water
After an entire night without drinking, your body is more dehydrated than you may think.
Drink an entire glass of water within twenty minutes of waking up….no coffee, soda, or sugary juices. Just pure, clean water!
You will be surprised at how much that impacts your physical well-being.
Water fires up your metabolism while it hydrates you. Water also helps flush out toxins and helps you maintain a healthy diet.
6. Eat a healthy breakfast
A healthy diet is key for your body to perform at its best. We learn, retain important information, and concentrate better when we have had a healthy meal.
If you miss breakfast, your productivity will be down the entire day, and you are more likely to overeat later in the day.
A healthy breakfast will give you energy and set the stage for smart decision making and productivity all day long.
7. Prepare a to-do list
Planning out your day, week, or month is one of the most important time management tools. Having a prioritized and up-to-date task list will keep you on track.
Planning out your day (or reviewing your plan) first thing in the morning will help you mentally prepare for the day ahead of you.
Think about your goals for the day. What do you want to get accomplished?
Use your list as motivation to get more done! We all know how great it feels to cross something off of a list and mark it as complete.
And if you have a vision board, spend a couple of minutes looking over it to get yourself pumped up for the day ahead.
If you wait until after work to hit the gym or take that jog, it can easily fall off of your to-do list.
How many times have you been guilty of skipping the gym because something else popped up or you just do not have the energy late in the day?
By exercising first thing in the morning, you will benefit from increased energy levels all day long.
If hitting the treadmill is the last thing you want to do when your alarm starts ringing, a quick stretching or yoga session will still provide lots of benefits.
Exercise boosts endorphins and increases serotonin, and is a great way to start your day. Even a quick workout will reduce stress later in the day and also improves sleep quality.
Set your sneakers and workout clothes right beside your bed to serve as your morning motivation!
